Specially designed for military and civilian parachutists performing High Altitude - Low Opening (HALO) and High Altitude - High Opening (HAHO) jumps, the PM HALO/HAHO Helmet & Oxygen Mask System offers unsurpassed life support and performance benefits for airborne operations.
Unique features include a modular design that allows crew members to select communication components, oxygen mask receivers, helmet fitting system, visor/goggle components and optional earcups or earpads depending on noise protection requirements.
The PM HALO/HAHO Oxygen Mask features:
- Contoured, light-weight, low-profile oronasal mask with optimal mask/face seal and comfort, which maximizes field-of-view for enhanced situational awareness. The mask suspension can be custom-trimmed for special fits and is available in five sizes.
- Separate inhalation and exhalation valves to minimize breathing resistance and reduce user fatigue at high altitudes. The side entry oxygen supply hose is available in different lengths, is lightweight and crush resistant.
- A mask-mounted microphone allows ease of communication.
- Flexibility of user selection for fastening components - mask snap adaptors or bayonet receivers - to provide mask stability and retention during all phases of operations.
The PM HALO/HAHO Helmet features:
- Noise attenuation: Each helmet is configured for a user's specific noise attenuation requirements and features either plastic or leather earcups.
- Protection: The helmet's impact and noise attenuation are equivalent to the U.S. Navy HGU-84/P helicopter helmet; penetration resistance is equivalent to the USAF HGU-55/P. The retention assembly is designed to prevent inadvertent release and will withstand a 250-pound pull test.
- Compatibility: The helmet's modular design allows a user to add optional components, such as Night Vision Goggles or navigational tracking and display systems.
- Communications: Various impedance flex boom microphones or earphones and specialized communications cables.
- Accessories: Thermo Plastic Liner® (TPL), X Liner® or adjustable pad suspension and eye protective devices, including bungee visors or eye protective goggles.
- Weight & Sizing: Head borne weight of the helmet complete with communications, oxygen receivers and eye protection is 1060 grams (37.4 ounces). The addition of various helmet liners allows the size medium/large helmet to fit the 5th to 95th percentile population range.
- Sizes: The helmet is available in Medium/Large or X-Large.
- Surface & Trim: The helmet's outer shell surface is smooth and free of obstructions to reduce snagging of parachute lines. The leather covered foam edge roll is reinforced in the front and rear of the helmet for attachment of Night Vision Goggle strap assemblies.
- Colors: Standard helmet is available in matte black finish, or paint schemes are available.
- Versatility: Communication Cords to interface the helmet to various manworn radios are also available.
