The GENTEX Level IIIA Personnel Protective Armor System Ground Troops (PASGT) helmet, also known as the Lightweight LE helmet, is designed to protect law enforcement and other personnel from ballistic threats. It exceeds the v50 requirements of MIL-H-44099A with a velocity of 2150 feet per second and Level IIIA 9mm projectile at 1400 feet per second.

The helmet weighs less than earlier PASGT helmets and offers improved retentions and suspensions for comfort and stability compatible with protective gas masks.

Available retentions include the standard police 3-Point or a modified version of the new U. S. Marine Corps (USMC) 4-Point design. Available retentions include padded or mesh crown pads with foam lined headbands or pad suspensions which can be adjusted in thickness for uniform compression for enhanced comfort and stability.

Optional accessories include the FS-40 Riot Face Shield, which meets the ballistic, impact and fastening test of NIJ standard 0104.02, Nape Protector, Night Vision Goggle Bracket, GenComIII or GDH communication kits with lower cables adaptable to a variety of radios, and the GENTEX EPS-21 or Ballistic Optical Armor (BOA) goggles for additional eye protection.

The helmet is available in four sizes: Small, Medium, Large and X-Large. The outer shell features a textured surface, and is available in a variety of colors: Black, Olive Drab, Green 383, CHP Blue, UN Blue, Desert Tan, and Foliage Green.
