Aegisound successfully completes critical topic SBIR contract with U.S. Air Force

Blacksburg, VA – March 31, 2012 – Aegisound recently completed the “Affordable High-Performance Hearing Protection and Communication System” SBIR contract, awarded by the US Air Force in 2009.  The program was focused on improving the performance, cost, and manufacturability of Aegisound’s most advanced digital active noise reduction (DANR) hearing protection and communication products. Upon completion of the program, Aegisound is poised to work with Lockheed Martin (manufacturer of the Joint Strike Fighter) to transition a significantly less expensive version of its DANR DHP (digital active noise reduction double hearing protector) and DANR DHPC (with communications) into production.

Aegisound is currently under contract and is shipping its baseline design DANR DHP and DANR DHPC products (triple hearing protection headsets with communication) to Lockheed Martin. The products are being procured to protect maintainers of the Joint Strike Fighter from harmful noise exposure.  The recent and successful completion of this Critical Topic SBIR contract makes it possible for LM to pursue transition to the less expensive version of the DANR DHP systems developed during this program.
