Gentex demonstrates new HGU-55/GTX Fixed Wing and other enhanced helmet systems at Farnborough International Airshow
Carbondale, Pennsylvania, July 9, 2014. Gentex Corporation, a leading provider of personal protection and situational awareness solutions for global defense and security forces, will demonstrate new and enhanced products from their 2014 Aircrew product line at the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA), July 14th – 18th in Farnborough, U.K. Featured among them will be the new Gentex® HGU-55/GTX Fixed Wing Helmet System developed to maximize safety of aircrew throughout Western Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
The new Gentex HGU-55/GTX provides unrivaled performance for day and night missions through a special configuration of the industry-leading Gentex HGU-55/P Helmet. Equipped with a dual-visor assembly and Night Vision Goggle (NVG) quick-disconnect mount, the system qualifies for safe ejection at speeds up to 600 KEAS. An integrated protective assembly houses the dual visors to minimize damage and increase safety during through-canopy ejections.
At the international biennial forum, Gentex will also demonstrate other additions made to their comprehensive product line earlier this year including the Gentex HGU-55/IG Fixed Wing Helmet System with Ejection-Safe NVG Mount, enabling safe ejection from Panavia Tornado aircraft when wearing NVGs. The system includes an NVG power-pack assembly for nighttime mission endurance and Gentex STEP-IN® Visor to maintain eye protection during day and night missions. Also shown, will be the Gentex HGU-56/P Aircrew Ballistic Helmet (ABH) System with a new ballistically enhanced maxillofacial shield (MFS) for full protection. The HGU-56/P ABH provides 110% more ballistic protection than the standard Gentex HGU-56/P Rotary Wing Aircrew Helmet without affecting weight or level of impact protection.
“Demonstration of our 2014 Aircrew helmet product line at Farnborough is part of our effort to grow our international business. Our latest products demonstrate our ongoing commitment to developing the most advanced technology to improve aircrew safety and performance,” said Robert McCay, vice president, Gentex Aircrew Systems. “The additions also bolster our comprehensive line of products, helping us to continue our growth in international markets.” Gentex’s distributor, Transaero Inc., will host the display of these new and enhanced products at Farnborough in their booth (A7) in Hall 3 of the U.S. Pavilion amongst their full line of personal, safety and survival equipment for commercial and military customers.
